Rev. Dr. Cynthia SImpson

Cynthia Bilbo Simpson proudly serves as an associate minister at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She is a native of Lake Charles, grew up in St. Paul and the community. She attended local public schools and is a graduate of W. O. Boston High School.  She attended McNeese State University; however, upon the unction of the Holy Spirit, she pursued theological training and earned several theology degrees; including a doctorate in Theology/Counseling from ITL Theological Seminary.

In 1994, she answered the call to Ministry and in 1996 was ordained Itinerate Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop Richard Allen Chappelle, Sr., and assigned to pastor St. James A. M. E. Church in Elizabeth, LA.

In 1998, upon completing the Eighth Episcopal District Ministerial Training Program, she was ordained Itinerate Elder at the Seventy-ninth Session of the Central Louisiana Conference by the Right Reverend Richard Allen Chappelle, Sr. She was then reassigned to St. James and assigned to Grover Chapel A.M.E. Church in Glenmora, LA.

Rev. Simpson is loving, caring, and kindhearted. She encourages men, women, boys, and girls to trust in the Lord with their whole heart and not lean on their own understanding.  “RevDr”, as she is affectionately called, has counseled, taught and preached God’s word for over two decades with simplicity. She blesses others with humor. Her calling to fulfill is with transparency and strength as she finds time to visit the sick, make calls to members, conduct bible study and other duties. And above all, spend time studying God’s Word.

She is a wife to Charles for 30 years, a mother of 2, grand and great grandchildren, a role model and mentor. She has unspeakable joy...for the world didn’t give it to her and the world can’t take it away.
